Parasite is best known for helming the consistently great Deathsucker label, which boasts the scene’s best and most eclectic roster (with releases from Bong-Ra, Venetian Snares, Sickboy, Knifehandchop, Monster Zoku Onsomb!, Monkey Steak, DJ C, Stivs, Electromeca, DJ Floorclearer, DJ Ripley and Krumble). Head honcho of DSWAT distro, one of the most active online mailorder stores, and a driving force behind the Toxic Dancehall parties in Bristol, UK. Parasite also makes computer game music having worked on the highly-addictive tower defense game Savage Moon on Playstation3. Check out his portfolio here: http://soundcloud.com/arminelsaesser
Biography
Parasite is the pseudonym of music producer Kurt C Calleja. Often building ominous, unsettling atmospheres, his quivering basslines and pulsating beats are paired with distorted synths and decaying vocals to evoke dystopian imagery entangled in visceral impulse. He fuses techno, post-punk and EBM with industrial textures to produce the hectic yet bold rhythms that define his work. Calleja is also the co-founder of Malta-based collective, Kinesis, established in 2024.
