Personal data
This site has no accounts and no advertising. Audience is measured with Umami, self-hosted on a server in the European Union: it sets no cookie, follows you on no other site, and your IP address is only used transiently to tell visits apart and place the visit at city level, never stored. The only cookie this site sets stores your language choice. Your browser also keeps local preferences (sound muted, volume) and, for the time of a visit, the map view you left so the map reopens where you were. All of it is strictly functional and exempt from consent.
The map shows artist profile pictures served by SoundCloud: as soon as it opens, your browser requests them from the SoundCloud CDN, which receives your IP address. Playing a track loads the official SoundCloud player; from that point SoundCloud may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy. Event flyers are served by the image CDNs of Resident Advisor and Shotgun, and an artist’s latest filmed set shows a thumbnail served by YouTube; the YouTube player itself (youtube-nocookie.com) only loads when you press play, and then follows Google’s privacy policy. Deezer and YouTube figures are fetched by our server at night, never by your browser.
Label covers and release artwork are served by the Beatport image CDN, label logos and presentations come from Discogs (its image CDN serves the logos, Wikimedia Commons serves a few), organisation logos from Resident Advisor and Shotgun, and the logo of a booking agency is the image its own website declares (og:image), or the favicon of its domain served by DuckDuckGo. Organisation and label pages also show a YouTube thumbnail of their most recent video, the venue photo of an event, an artist’s banner and the covers of reviewed releases come from Resident Advisor, and an artist’s public links (Instagram, Spotify, Bandcamp) are those they list on SoundCloud. Each of these hosts receives your IP address when such an image is displayed.
Fonts are served by Google Fonts (Google Ireland Ltd), which receives your IP address when the page loads.
If you list a night through the form on the agenda, what you type (title, date, place, lineup, organisation, link) is stored on our server so the night can be published; the email address you may add is never displayed and is only used to reach you about that night. Corrections and reports sent from an artist page are stored the same way. Claiming an artist page stores the role, the email address (never displayed, only used to reach you about that page), the contact and link you want shown, and the verification date. Nothing else is kept.
Like any web server, the hosting infrastructure logs requests (IP address, user agent) for security and diagnostics, for a limited time.

Data about artists
The map is built from public sources: SoundCloud profiles (stage name, city, follower count, public tracks and the collaborations they document), Discogs releases, Resident Advisor and Shotgun listings (events, lineups, organisers, and the booking contact an artist chose to publish there), Last.fm tags, Deezer public counts and album credits (the labels), YouTube public counts, Beatport public catalogue (releases, credits, labels, artwork), MusicBrainz and Wikidata (a label’s founding, place and parent company), Mixcloud public sets, and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to turn a city into a country. These are fetched by our server, never by your browser. Booking agencies are derived from those public contacts (the domain of the address), never from private data. Nothing private is collected; a contact shown on Skenai is one the artist or their agent published themselves.
An artist who wishes to be corrected or removed from the map can write to the address above.
Intellectual property
The texts, the map and its code are © Cédric Lucchese unless stated otherwise. Profile pictures and tracks belong to their artists and are streamed from SoundCloud, never copied.
