Biography

Hailed as “The future of Dj’ing” (Last night a Dj Saved my life) and “The last bastion of Acid House” (Muzik Mag) and listed on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tech_house as one of the most important characters of the techouse era and is not to be underestimated. Pure Science has had a deep affiliation with Electronic Music since the early 80’s. Starting out as a Keyboard Player / Synthesist playing in a few bands and acquiring a Tape Op position at a recording studio back in the late 80’s at then Passion Records (London Pirate Radio Station Lightning FM’s recording studio in Brixton) and assisting such artists as Tenor Fly, Michael Prophet and Dave Angel. Phivos then still in his teens was starting to get booked as a live PA, playing live and performing gigs at parties and venues such as “Pirate Club”, “The Fridge” and “The Brain”. During this time Phivos was asked to program and arrange keyboard parts for Miss France 89 (Sandrine) on French label Vital via some of his band contacts. Phivos was then Introduced to Pirate radio Fantasy FM’s Dj Hype, the duo went on to co-produce the first releases on Kickin Records “The Excorcist” & “The Bee” as the artist “The Scientist” (Engineered by Ralph P Ruppert). These tracks were supported heavily by the London Pirate Radio stations of the time and both reached No 1 in the UK Dance and Independent Charts (No’s 43 & 46 National UK Gallop charts 1990) and voted by KISS FM listeners as best tune of the year on their first year of getting a broadcasting licence. At this time “Mr Science” was also working freelance in the studio with various artists and producers from the likes of Mica Paris, Malcome Maclaren, Terry Hall, Captain Sensible, Nickollete, Dr Devious (Guru Josh) and Sony Greece artists Nikos Karvellas, Bantazis, Anna Vissi and Sakis Rouvas. Around this time “The Scientist” name developed into the Pure Science concept and Phivos started the P.S.Communications label and later the B+positive sister label to expose and share his sought after productions. Playing live at various parties in London and the surrounding areas gained Phivos recognition for “being able to wrap entire dancefloors around his little finger” (Muzik Mag). Releasing various tracks, licencing and remixes on various labels such as: Rehab Records (via Zoom Records), Pacific, Pagan, Lunar Tunes, Eukahouse, Plastic City, Rescue Recordings, Fabric, Black Flag, Hoog Choons, Bosh, Shakin-Vibes, Absurd, ifidota, Cougar Trax, Red Robot and Pure Scienc
